Country Flowers - Floral Scenes Inspired from England

It's a miserable day outside. Blowing a gale, freezing, the odd torrential rainstorm every hour or so... It's basically winter now in Tasmania but I'm painting like it's spring.

You see, I've decided to start a new series of paintings called Country Flowers.

The aim is to create twelve floral scenes inspired by my travels around England last year. Some paintings will be of wildflowers that I photographed while traipsing through fields, others are inspired by the beautiful gardens in Windermere.

It was springtime while I was traveling with an abundance of colours everywhere I looked. I took heaps and heaps of reference photographs, so I'm sure I will have plenty of inspiration to draw upon for this project.

Similar to my 2023 series, Twelve Happy Hens, the goal is to eventually digitise these paintings and turn them into a calendar (and prints, cards, and whatever other exciting things I can get my hands on!). I had such a great experience creating my calendar last year that I couldn't resist making another one!

So far I've finished 3 out of the 12 paintings:

• Little Yellow Flowers

• Roses in Beatrix's Garden

• Wisteria Cottage

All of the paintings will be in gouache on paper.

My plan so far is to frame each of the original paintings and either gift to family and friends or sell at a couple of upcoming markets that I'll be at.

I'll keep you updated as I go on throughout the project! I'm a quarter of the way there already!

Until next time,

Anna
